Candidate for CA Assembly District 1
I’m a proud native of rural California. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and spent most of my working life in Northern California’s forests, fields, and rivers. I studied science and resource management at the University of California, Davis and got my master’s degree in forest and source-water management at Colorado State University. While studying, I worked for the agricultural extension services, providing local ranchers and small landholders with education about water resources and land management.

“I am a California native and small business owner. Owning a successful business for over 30 years has taught me that authenticity and honesty count just as much as understanding smart finances and adhering to budgets. Our District needs an advocate who insists that state policies and budgets don’t forget us in the North State. Our tax dollars need to return to our communities. We need increased rural infrastructure, expanded funding for education and affordable housing to create more opportunity and well paying, local jobs. With these in place, our region will be able to attract new, and much needed medical facilities, colleges and trade schools as well as support online businesses that are a perfect fit for our rural area.

Audrey spent her childhood on her family’s farm and ranch in Central California. They grew hay and wine grapes, and raised beef cattle and draft horses. Her father was a Vietnam Veteran and her mother was a leader in their church. Growing up this way instilled in Audrey a strong work ethic and a respect for land and natural resources, which she has carried with her throughout her education and career. From an early age, she was active in 4-H and other service-learning organizations, served as a California FFA State Officer, and also was named a National Beef Ambassador representing the beef industry around the country.
